Custom software for real work.Built by hand in Adelaide.

I’m Alex. I build the software a business runs on: internal tools, automations, integrations, dashboards and Flutter apps. Websites too, when that’s the right tool. No templates, no page builders, no bloat. You deal with me from the first chat to launch day and after.

  • Hand-written code
  • One developer, start to finish
  • Clear quote before work starts

What I build with

  • Flutter
  • Dart
  • Vue
  • React
  • TypeScript
  • Node.js
  • C# / .NET
  • Astro
  • HTML/CSS
  • Firebase
  • Supabase

why handcoded

Your business isn’t a template. The tools you use shouldn’t be either.

Off-the-shelf software is built for a general case. It gets awkward the moment your work doesn’t match the demo. I start with a blank file and write the software for how you actually operate: lean, fast, and yours to keep.

Fast by default.

Lean, hand-written software, built to stay quick in daily use.

Yours, properly.

Your domain, your code, your accounts, in your name. No lock-in.

One person, accountable.

The person you brief is the person who builds it and picks up the phone when you need a change.

01 — what I build

Software first. Websites when you need one.

01

Custom software

Business software, internal tools, dashboards and web apps, written for the way your team already works. When the spreadsheet is the system, I replace it.

  • Web apps
  • Internal tools
  • Dashboards
  • Portals

02

Mobile apps

iPhone and Android apps from one Flutter codebase, so you get both phones without paying for two builds. Booking, field work, and tools your staff keep in a pocket.

  • Flutter
  • iOS & Android
  • Web
  • App stores

03

Workflow automation

The repeated copy-paste between inbox, spreadsheet and accounts. I replace those steps with something that runs, and leave a person in the loop where a person belongs.

  • Repeated tasks
  • Hand-offs
  • Alerts
  • Less re-typing

04

Integrations & APIs

When two systems should talk and don’t, I connect them. APIs, webhooks, and the awkward bit in the middle, including tools like Xero, Stripe or Google.

  • APIs
  • Webhooks
  • Xero & Stripe
  • Custom endpoints

05

Websites

Fast, hand-coded websites. Designed around your customers, built to be found on Google, and easy to call, book or enquire from.

  • Mobile-first
  • Local SEO
  • Contact & booking forms
  • Hosting set-up

06

Ongoing support

After launch I stay on for fixes, small changes and the next version. You call the person who built it. This isn’t a packaged care plan.

  • Fixes
  • Small changes
  • The next version
  • One person

Not sure which you need? That’s normal. Tell me the problem and I’ll tell you honestly what will fix it, even if that’s something off the shelf. Talk it through

02 — process

From first chat to launch, no surprises.

  1. 01

    Chat

A free, no-pressure call or coffee in Adelaide. You tell me what’s not working; I ask a lot of questions.

  2. 02

    Plan & quote

A clear written scope, timeline and price before anything starts. No hourly-rate guessing.

  3. 03

    Design

You see how it’ll look and work before the build starts, and we refine it together.

  4. 04

    Build

I hand-code it and share progress as I go, so you’re never waiting in the dark.

  5. 05

    Launch & look after

I test it on real devices, take it live, and stick around for updates, fixes and what’s next.

03 — work

What I’m building.

Swoledex, a strength training and lifestyle app. It isn’t in the stores yet.

01 — Mobile app

  • Launching soon

Swoledex

A strength training and lifestyle app for iPhone, Android, and the web. Launching soon.

The approach

One Flutter codebase covers iOS, Android, and the web. Drift (SQLite) keeps data on the device for offline use. Supabase is the backend. RevenueCat handles subscriptions. Firebase Cloud Messaging and Crashlytics are part of the stack, and golden tests cover the interface. The visual language is the Vesper design system. It isn’t in the stores yet.

04 — the deal

What you get when you hire one person, not an agency.

You talk to the developer.

No account managers, no hand-offs, no offshore subcontracting. Just me.

Plain English, always.

I’ll explain what you’re paying for and why, without the jargon.

Built to last.

Clean, documented code that another developer could pick up, so you’re never held hostage.

Local and reachable.

I’m in Adelaide, on Adelaide time. Call, email, or catch up in person.

05 — questions

Fair questions.

Straight answers. If yours isn’t here, send it anyway.

How much does a project cost?

Every project is different, so I quote after a quick chat about what you need. You’ll get a clear, written quote before any work starts, with no hidden extras.

How long does it take?

It depends on the scope. I’ll give you a realistic timeline in your quote, before any work starts.

What’s Flutter, and why do you use it for apps?

Flutter is Google’s toolkit for building apps. One codebase covers iOS, Android and the web when you need it, and that’s the one you look after.

Can I update it myself?

Yes, if you want to. I can set up simple editing for the content you change often, or just handle updates for you.

Do you do hosting, domains and email?

I’ll set up fast, reliable hosting and help with your domain and business email. Everything stays in your name.

Do you only work with Adelaide businesses?

I’m based in Adelaide and love working with local businesses, but I work with clients anywhere in Australia by video call.

I already have a website. Can you fix it rather than rebuild it?

Often, yes. I’ll take an honest look and tell you whether it’s worth fixing or starting fresh.

let’s talk

Got something to build?

Tell me what you need, or what’s not working. I’ll get back to you personally.
